Week 39| How to Clean/Organize Your Bathroom {Even When Your Short on Time}

The dreaded bathroom... we all have them {or a few of them} and hate cleaning them. Seriously. So how to manage it all when you're short on time? I split the cleaning of our bathroom into separate days: obviously the shower takes the longest so I usually reserve that for a weekend morning {or a morning I am off of work}; the toilet is a simple clean so any day of the week works, along with the counter/sink; and the floor is done at the same time as the rest of the floors in our downstairs {a quick vacuum & mop}. With this schedule the bathroom is always clean regardless of whether I have a chunk of time to get it done.

Then there is the linen closet organization. I once believed that I LOVED baskets for our linen closet organization but recently switched over to Sterilite Shoe Boxes to organize all the things. I must say that I am loving that EVERYTHING has it's own space with a lid {and label}. The cost is great, too. I purchased a package of 10 for $7.99 at Walmart. And the labels... I love labels and the options The Container Store offers are nearly endless.

Bathroom Cleaning & Organization

When organizing I keep all like things in containers together. Some you'll find in our linen closet: Lady Products; Danica Contacts; Camryn Contacts; Travel Size Items; Toothpaste & Toothbrushes; Toiletries; Curling/Flat Irons; and Razors & Deodorant. We still have a few items in baskets such as washcloths; makeup/travel bags; sunscreen/after sun lotion; miscellaneous ointments, lotions, skincare; etc. Other categories that could also be kept in the bathroom {but we keep in the kitchen} would be medications and first aid.

{What's even better... if you have children who are old enough to help with chores, you don't have to do this all by yourself. Check out my previous post on how to get your kiddies to help with their bathroom cleaning here.}

Once the cleaning & organization is complete, here's a simple little checklist of items to ensure a neat & tidy space on a daily/weekly basis:

√ First and foremost, make sure the space is clean.

√ Take a few minutes each day to wipe down the counter, sink and toilet.

√ Clean the bath/shower each week.

√ Make sure the trash is emptied at least weekly.

√ Take the time to organize the vanity drawers & cabinet if you have one.

√ Put out fresh towels every few days (no one wants a stinky towel to dry their hands on).

√ Make sure there is EXTRA toilet paper at all times AND replace the empty toilet paper

roll when it runs out. (we keep some in a basket on the back of the toilet, as well

as some in the linen closet.)

√ Wash the mirror - there is nothing worse than a streaky, nasty mirror.

√ And finally, the linen closet... utilize baskets or containers to help manage all the items

inside. Fold your towels neatly. (P.S. It doesn't necessarily have to be Pinterest

worthy but orderly enough that things are accessible and neat.)
