There were years that we were the staycation folks. Spring had arrived, my workaholic husband hated taking time off after just starting back after a LOOOONG winter, etc. So we made our own fun in and around home! And you can, too!!!
Here is just a short list of some fun things we have done in the past during our staycation days, some of which that won't break the bank! {in & around the Rochester,NY area, or within a few hour drive}...
No/Low Budget Fun:
Playdate at home with other Staycationers
At home movie day with popcorn & treats {perhaps in your PJs ALL DAY?!}
Game day {because we all have that closet full of games just waiting to be played!}
Local Library
Local parks/playgrounds
Budget Fun:
Overnight to Niagara Falls
{If considering admission to one of the above zoos/museums for multiple family members for the day, check into a membership for the year, while it will be a little more expensive now, the savings in the end will be significant, especially if you plan to go again throughout the year.}
Another great site for local things to do is Kids Out & About - you can search by date for activities & more! {I used this site ALL the time when our kids were younger - great for anytime of the year!}
Times have changed for us, we are now the vacation type but that's only because our timeshare purchase has made it so easy! Check spring break dates, go online and check locations, decide on location & book. Now our list consists of:
Booking a pet/house sitter
Reservation for a rental car
Making sure our calendars are clear
Cleaning the house for the pet/house sitter
Packing our suitcases
